Our Editor's Take

This series puts courtroom drama onto the podcast stage. Hosted by real-life attorneys Cesie and Angela, The Bravo Docket examines the lawsuits of reality TV stars. As well as practicing law, both hosts are fans of reality TV shows such as Below Deck and Real Housewives of New York. Together, the lawyers search for details from different court cases featuring reality stars. They go through witness statements. And they give the reported timelines from each side of the story. And, as expected, there's more than a bit of drama with these court cases.

One case that gets full coverage is that of Jennifer Shah. Jennifer is the TV star of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. She's charged with conspiring to commit wire fraud and money laundering. Cessie and Angela start pre-trial and follow every stage of her sentencing. Along the way, they explain all the legal terms and answer top questions listeners may have. As well as listing her charges, they examine Jen's arguments to share her story.

Although the show title mentions Bravo TV, this show talks about more than the TV network. The Bravo Docket talks about Hollywood actors. The hosts examine the case of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. In this episode, they discuss how the couple met and detail their backgrounds. Both actors had several run-ins with the law, starting when Depp trashed a hotel room with Kate Moss. These previous charges set the scene for an explosive court case. With accusations on both sides, there's much to explore.

Cessie and Angela also talk about legal issues in other areas of TV. In the episode "Dance Mom to Dance Con," the two attorneys discuss the law for child reality TV stars. The idea comes from a listener who wants them to examine the case of fraudster Abby Lee Miller. The pair describe the case as a "hot mess." Thanks to them, everything gets explained. It is easy to follow. It's this approach to each case that makes the podcast so compelling. As the drama unfolds, each listener can follow the drama.

Girardi is Competent to Stand Trial: A Public Defender Weighs In
We are doing something different today and interviewing a member of our legal team, Monica Nguyen. Monica is a Deputy Public Defender that specializes in competency and has been working solely in mental health for 15 years. Monica digs into the court's decision on Tom Girardi's competency and provides her opinion, based on her experience, of the decision and what the court could have addressed further. Monica can be found on Instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/mentalhealthlawyer/ As an initial note, this is not at all to defend what Tom did, but rather is an opportunity to consider the order from a different perspective with an attorney who is experienced in the subject matter. This is not our practice area so when we can rely on members of the legal team who do practice in the area, we want them to share. Receipts, Proof, Timeline: Our Insight into Reality Von Tease
Picture this: it was early 2021, we had just released our first podcast episode and were trying to learn how to market our newly minted Instagram account. We searched for other creators to connect with and found an account that had shared headline making, leaked audio of Jen Shah. This was pre-arrest so it was the only Jen "tea" that was out at the time. This account had 2000+ followers and counting then, but it seemed like they had an in or were incredibly good at finding sources. We added them to stay on top of the news. But shortly after, Jen was arrested and the tone shifted as the account's goal seemed to be to completely take down Jen. Our content soon appeared on their page. We exchanged some DMs. The account then fledged a full blown war on Jen. This was Reality Von Tease and this is our breakdown of our interactions, the timeline, the receipts, the proof, the evidence, and our thoughts on it all.Access additional content and our Patreon here: https://zez.am/thebravodocketThe Bravo Docket podcast, the statements we make whether in our own media or elsewhere, and any content we post are for entertainment purposes only and do not provide legal advice.
