Our Editor's Take

Those who like to play games may enjoy The RPGBOT.Podcast. This podcast started in 2021. The show talks about what it calls "tabletop roleplaying games," also called RPGs. This includes famous games like Dungeons & Dragons and Pathfinder. More obscure games like Dragonlance: Shadow of the Dragon Queen also get discussed.

The RPGBOT.Podcast comes from the popular RPGBOT.net website, a top online gamer resource. Cohosts Random Powell and Tyler Kamstra all write for that site. Cohost Randall James writes for AmateurJack.com. Game player Ash Ely joined them as a cohost in 2022. All four hosts are funny and get along well together. They also know RPGs well enough to teach gaming tips to readers and listeners.

Most of the RPGBOT.Podcast episodes fall into one of two types of shows. They are either RPGBOT.Podcast or RPGBOT.News. But both are still part of the same show. This is a little confusing, but it works out like this. The news episodes feature more breaking and specific news items. The podcast ones have more general gameplaying advice and information.

The hosts all know a lot about gaming, of course. But they also talk to other experts in the field on the show to get their thoughts. Some past guests include Alex Seidel of Pathfinder Society. Greg Tito and Shelly Mazanoble of the D&D Dragon Talk podcast also appeared.

There is a lot of jargon on these podcasts, which might overwhelm new listeners. But each episode features show notes and links to additional resources. Beginners and experts alike who want to improve their RPG skills may like this podcast.
